Reading Association of Ireland Awards
Wings over Delft by Aubrey Flegg has won the overall award for his novel which is published by the O'Brien Press. It is the first book in the Louise Trilogy and is the story art and love in 17th century Holland. As Jamila Gavin says "all those Dutch paintings come alive in the mind's eye". You may not find it in your local bookshop but it was published in England in October 2005 and can readily be ordered - O'Brien Press 0-86278-886-2. This novel also won the Bisto Book of the Year Award in 2004 - Ireland's most prestigious children's literature prize.
